Introduction
SplidIt ("we," "our," or "us") provides a group expense management tool via app.splidit.com. We highly value your privacy and comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy. We are not collecting any data on the use of the application or data that is used inside the application in any form.
1. Data Accessed
Our application accesses the following Google user data:
- Google Drive Files: We use the Google Drive API to access only the specific files and folders created by or explicitly opened with SplidIt for your expense groups. We do not access or view any other files on your Google Drive.
- Basic Account Information: To enable login and authentication, we access your Google account email and basic profile information (name and profile picture).
2. Data Usage
We use the accessed Google user data strictly to provide the application's core functionality:
- Google Drive Data: It is processed locally on your device to create, read, update, and manage your group's expense records. All the data is sitting on the drive of the users. We do not deploy backend algorithms to analyze, read, or process this data for any other purposes.
- Authentication & Profile Data: The only thing that is kept is the ability to log in using your Google account and this is done with Firebase that belongs to Google and safely saved on Google frameworks. Along with the e-mail and basic information that Firebase requires for log in, we also save information that is related to extended features or tiers that a user has registered or subscribed to as part of extended services that he may want to use.
3. Data Sharing
The data is not shared and not used by anyone, especially not any third party. SplidIt does not share, sell, lease, or distribute your personal information, Google Drive data, or usage metrics to external servers or third parties. No other data is saved or synchronized, in any way or form in external servers.
4. Data Storage & Protection
Zero-Server Storage for User Files: SplidIt does not store your expense data or personal files on any external or proprietary backend servers. All application data is stored directly in your Google Drive.
Protection Practices: The files and data for each group of shared transactions are totally controlled by the application via the interface of the group admin. The group admin or the group owner has the ability to lock the group after all the users have joined, registered, and been approved by the admin of the group. The admin has the ability to lock the permissions for these group files, hence using the built-in Google Drive permission access in order to allow access to these files only by the approved members of the group.
Therefore, the security level for the shared data between the members in a group is the exact same security level that Google Drive provides for shared files that are locked only to specific users. Open access is only granted temporarily during the initial join phase for a very specific file, purely to verify and authorize members. Once a member is approved by the group owner, the data itself is securely shared only with those authorized individuals.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
We only retain the basic Google login information and subscription data as long as your account is active.
- Expense Data: Because your expense data is stored directly in your Google Drive, you control its retention. You can delete your data at any time by removing the SplidIt files or folders in your Drive. SplidIt maintains no recovery copies.
- Account Deletion: You may request full deletion of your user account (including email and tier records stored on Firebase) by contacting us directly (see below) or using the in-app delete account feature if available. Upon request, your data is promptly removed from our Firebase instance.
